I think I saw a thunderbird during the huge blackout in like 2003/2004. I was about 7 or 8 years old then, living in a Detroit neighborhood. There are no airports close to the neighborhood either. All are about 20 to 30 miles away, so it wasn't a plane flying low. The bird was HUGE if I had to guess at least a 10ft wing span, and it was black. It was quite far from me, maybe 3 or 4 miles away, but was flying at tree level. I remember it so vividly because the power was out, so my siblings and I were outside instead of watching tv.
